  • Steve Norris

    Non-Executive Director

Steve Norris is both a politician with a national reputation and an experienced businessman. He was a Member of Parliament for over fourteen years and served as Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Departments of Environment, Trade and Industry and the Home Office and was Minister for Transport in London from 1992-96. He was Vice-Chairman of the Conservative Party and twice their candidate for Mayor of London, outperforming the national party on both occasions. He now sits on the boards of Transport for London and the London Development Agency.

He has combined his political undertakings with a successful business career in which he has specialised in corporate turnrounds and new technology.  As a high level business advisor Steve’s clients have included The Financial Services Authority, the Strategic Rail Authority, London Electricity, Jaguar Cars, Expedia Corporation and Canary Wharf Group.

As a businessman Steve has been Director General of the Road Haulage Association and has wide experience of both quoted and unquoted companies. He is Chairman of AMT-Sybex Group and Saferoad BLG and Senior Independent Director at ITIS Holdings plc.

Outside business Steve is Chair of the Trustees of Eastside Young Leaders Academy and of the London Action Trust. He is President of ITS-UK and a Patron of the Campaign for Better Transport and of the cycling charity Sustrans. Steve is also a Companion of the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Apart from London, Steve's other passion is football.  He was born an Evertonian and claims his proudest moment ever was when Brian Labone, the former England and Everton midfielder, told him he loved his programme on TalkSport radio.  These days he follows Fulham except when the Toffees come to Craven Cottage when strangely he has an engagement elsewhere.
