Luke joined LCA in 2003 as an Account Director. He is now a Director of the company and was made an equity partner in August 2005. At LCA he leads on transport and health, directing accounts such as Serco Integrated Transport and the Commission for Integrated Transport, as well as directing work for two primary care trusts and two medical institutions.
Luke is a former Evening Standard journalist who spent 10 years in newspapers before switching to a career in PR and corporate communications, where he has worked both in-house and as a consultant, including a spell as a Managing Director of a major communications department.
Beginning his career on local newspapers, Luke worked his way up to covering the Westminster lobby. He joined the Standard in 1993 as a political reporter and was then Industrial Correspondent, covering London issues more broadly.
He left journalism to work with London First on the London Tube Campaign running up to the 1997 election, before joining the Design Council to lead a key part of its communications as media relations manager. In 2000, he moved to consultancy Fishburn Hedges, where he worked on Virgin Trains, the National Crime Squad and MOD.
Luke was also seconded to TfL for two years as full time media relations manager for the introduction of congestion charging in London. He returned to TfL in 2004 on secondment again as interim Managing Director, Group Communications for six months. In this role he led and restructured the organisations 50-strong communications department.
Lukes career has left him with strong friendships in the media, and led to expertise in broader management and communications skills such as public affairs, internal communications and crisis issues.
He has won awards for annual reports and travel writing, is a regular columnist in PR Week and has attended Harvard Business School. Luke is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
