Ben joined LCA in October 2005 and is seconded to London & Continental Railways (LCR) as Head of Media, working on the communications in the run up to the Royal opening of High Speed 1 and St Pancras International in November 2007. He also works across a number of other accounts as a media specialist.
Ben began his career lecturing in Sociology and Media Studies at the University of Cape Town, before returning to London to join the Millennium Commission press office. Ben had a particular responsibility for large capital projects in London and around the country, including the Millennium Bridge, Tate Modern, the Millennium Seed Bank, Thames Piers, the National Botanic Garden of Wales, The Eden Project, Dynamic Earth, The Lowry and the Odyssey in Belfast. After a stint at the Press Association, Ben joined Ogilvy PR Worldwide where, among other things, he ran the campaign launching free TV Licences for over 75s and the launch of MoreTh>n. In 2002, Ben joined Freud Communications to help run Birmingham's bid to be European Capital of Culture 2008. While at Freud, Ben also ran the Eurostar/LCR account, helping to launch Section 1 of High Speed 1, as well as campaigns for the Royal Albert Hall, the London 2012 Olympics Bid and Visit London, as well as Vue Cinema's purchase of the Warner Village chain, AOL, Electronic Arts and Nike. Ben received his MSc in Development Economics from the University of London (SOAS) in 1997. He lives in north London with his wife and three children, dividing any spare time between Arsenal and a burgeoning collection of motorbikes.
