“LCA’s support has been invaluable. They have supported us every step through the planning process, providing the right advice and effective implementation, dealing with complex issues and multiple audiences. The results have been excellent and we all enjoy working with them too.”
After assessing a range of options for a new Stadium, Tottenham Hotspur FC progressed plans to redevelop their current site with the addition of neighbouring employment land within a heavily residential area, part of which is a Conservation Area including the presence of listed buildings.
LCA was retained to support the planning process and manage external communications to help deliver a consent at local level. LCA prepared the initial consultation strategy, working closely with the professional team and liaising regularly with Haringey Council. This recommended a two phase public consultation, both centred around a public exhibition, extensive promotion, the collation of comments cards and numerous meetings with key community and other groups.
LCA drafted all materials, managed stakeholder activity including a very well attended Special Preview evening addressed by the leader of Haringey Council, and co-ordinated a positive campaign to back the plans through to committee. Specific issues such as transport and heritage needed dedicated additional support, including through key presentations to English Heritage, CABE, the GLA and others.
The consultation responses directly led to major scheme changes which, when presented to committee, had overwhelming public backing and which gained unanimous support on a cross-party basis. LCA remains retained by the Club and is continuing to support its Stadium development plans.
