East Thames Group & LCR
Consent for over 1,000 homes in Stratford

East Thames Group and LCR wanted to consult on proposals for the sixhectare Chobham Farm site in Stratford that would provide over 1,000 new homes as well as new parks, community spaces and shops, with the aim of raising widespread support ahead of a successful planning application.

LCA was initially brought on to directly manage the consultation programme which included delivering a full strategy, overseeing all stakeholder engagement, leading on a two-stage public exhibition as part of the local community consultation, and drafting all materials. LCA also supported media relations throughout the process. Two public exhibitions were held to raise awareness of the proposals with the local community and to help garner local support amongst residents, businesses and community groups. The scheme was to be delivered in two phases and so it was important to communicate effectively the short-term and long-term benefits.

The scheme received unanimous planning consent from the London Legacy Development Corporation in 2013, with widespread support from local businesses and community groups following significant engagement and consultation with politicians and other key local stakeholders.
